Green light for reception! Solidarity with the fleeing people in Belarus and Poland!

For weeks, the situation in the Belarusian-Polish border area has been devastating. People who try to flee to the EU via Belarus are systematically forced out of Poland back into a militarily closed-off buffer zone and held there.
The refugees are forcibly repatriated to Belarus by the Polish border guards. There, the people are stuck in precarious conditions and are subjected to the cold, moisture and hunger. Several people have already died, partly after violent pushbacks by Polish border guards.

In the past few days, the Polish parliament has voted in favour of legalising pushbacks and wants to further undermine the rule of law: In future, asylum applications can be rejected „unaudited“. It is not only in Poland that the government is relying on disenfranchisement and isolation: In Germany, Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer and the Federal Police Union are calling for border controls and patrols on the German-Polish border, thus clearing the way for fascist marches in the border areas.

Border fences are being erected in the middle of Europe against people seeking protection – this is happening in front of our eyes and we must not look away. We resolutely oppose this right-wing sentiment and rhetoric of violence! Our solidarity and our action are needed now. We say: Set green lights for reception!

We demand from the federal government and the coalition formed by SPD, FDP and Green Party as future government:
– direct admission of people from the Polish-Belarusian border in Germany
– to ensure access to asylum procedures based on the rule of law for refugees
and
– effort to end the violence in the Polish and German border regions as well as the illegal pushbacks at the Polish-Belarusian border.

Join us on the streets on Tuesday – let’s be loud and visible! Let’s take our protest and solidarity with the fleeing people to the streets of our cities and communities, in front of the parliaments and Polish consulates and powerfully oppose the policy of European isolation. The demonstration will start at 6 p.m. at Ernst-August-Platz.
